Im ChangKyun aka I.M from MONSTA X Leaves The Group

I.M, aka Changkyun, the rapper and maknae of MONSTA X, has left Starship Entertainment. The company informed followers of the six-member group’s contract renewal on August 8, 2022.

The group’s fanbase, MONBEBE, was first taken aback but exhaled a breath of relief when they learned that I.M will still be a member of the group. The agency’s statement made clear the following:

“As all six members still have unchanging affection for MONSTA X and MONBEBE, we have come to a mutual agreement for I.M to continue together for future group activities.”

I.M aka ChangKyun terminates his contract

I.M, the newest member of MONSTA X, left Starship Entertainment when his contract expired. The rapper deliberated for a while before deciding not to renew it and to pursue other options. The news also included an update on the remaining five individuals who had chosen to renew their employment with the organization.

The contracts of the six remaining members, Shownu (who is presently serving in the military), Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, and Joohoney, have been renewed. They will still participate with I.M in upcoming group activities.

After extensive conversations, Starship Entertainment disclosed that ChangKyun’ contract has expired:

“We have had sincere discussions with ChangKyun, but our exclusive contract with him will, unfortunately, come to an end. We express deep gratitude for I.M’s hard work, efforts, and devotion over the years. We will cheer on and support I.M’s future activities and his new path.”

On a more positive side, the agency did reveal that they are shortly arranging several events for the group to attend to meet their fans.

Fans pour in love for MONSTA X maknae I.M

The 26-year-old rapper has not yet personally addressed his leaving.  After hearing the news, the MONBEBEs’ fans felt a range of emotions. They were upset that I.M left the agency, but they were also relieved that he would continue to be a member of the group while he embarked on his independent path.

The fans gave affection and well wishes to the idol for his next ambitions. They felt empathy for him, stating that the idol’s decision to depart from the group and embark on a solo adventure must have been challenging. They also praised him for choosing to continue being a part of MONSTA X.

As for the group, it keeps gaining popularity steadily. The inaugural music event hosted by Nickelodeon, known as NickFest, will include MONSTA X. The event is scheduled for October 22 and 23. Popular performers including The Kid LAROI, 24KGold, Alec Benjamin, and others are on the lineup.
