IST Entertainment announced on June 1 that Jiyoon would be leaving her activities as a member of Weeekly due to persistent health difficulties. The information also said that Weeekly would be carrying ahead as a six-member group moving forward. Jiyoon had previously taken two breaks from her activities with the group due to recurrent anxiety feelings. After taking a sabbatical in August of the previous year for a short period, Jiyoon returned to her duties with the group in December. Despite this, she once again stopped her activities in February of this year. Just before Weeekly made their most recent reappearance with their single album “Play Game: AWAKE.”

Jiyoon was born on March 2, 2002, in the city of Bundang-gu. Which is located in the town of Seongnam in the province of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. On June 30, 2020, Shin launched her professional music career when she became a South Korean band Weekly member. On the other hand, she had also taken part in a competition called MIXNINE, in which she was a representative of FAVE Entertainment. The unfortunate K-pop star finished in 44th place and was eliminated in the 10th episode of the competition.

Now, almost three months later, IST Entertainment has brought the news that Jiyoon has resigned from her position at Weeekly so that she may concentrate on her treatment and recuperation from her illness. Weeekly will now promote a 6-member group of Soojin, Soeun, Monday, Jihan, Jaehee, and Zoa. This change will take effect immediately.
