Austin Bellamy, An Ohio Man is On The Path of Recovery After Being Stung 20,000 Times by Bees

An Ohio Man, Austin Bellamy was grievously injured in the malicious killer bee attack. As per the reports he got stung over 20,000 times.


Bees Stung Him Over 20,000 times

The young lad, Austin Bellamy climbed on the tree to help his friend. However, the unfortunate incident took place when the bees started attacking him.

The incident took place on Friday when Austin tried to help his friend by trimming the branches of the tree where the nest of bees was present. Thereafter, the nightmare came into life when he accidently cut into that nest. These bees are famously known as ‘African Killer bees’

The reasons they are dangerous has been written in various researches. One of the research work from the Unites States Department of Agriculture stated that the African killer bees are notorious and stings actively,

“are more defensive, stinging more with less provocation than other honey bees.”

Austin’s relatives, Phyllis Edwards (grandmother) and Dustin Edwards (uncle) were the proximate eye witnesses. They were the bystanders when the tragic incident took its hold on the life of the poor man. This information got covered by the Fox affiliate WXIX-TV.


In order to cover up the medical expenses, Shawna Carter(mother of the victim) established a GoFundMe page. On the page she shared her story,

” Hi my name is Shawna Carter I am setting up this fundraiser for my son Austin Bellamy Austin just turned 20 in August 7 and on August 27 he was in a tragic tree accident where he was doing tree work for a friend and cut a lemon cut right into a nest of African killer bees and was stung over 20,000 times and is in the hospital currently on a ventilator and fighting for his life and we are asking for any donations just anything will help thank you and God bless “

Austin Bellamy on the Path of Recovery

The twenty-year-old, Ohio born Bellamy finally opened his eyes on August 31 of 2022. Earlier, the doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center had injected him to a medically induced coma for a faster recovery. Therefore, Austin’s recovery is going great and as expected.

The good news has made Bellamy’s family hopeful and grateful at the same time. When the People approached the family of Austin, his mother seemed to be relieved and grateful.


Shawna told the WXIX-TV that she passed out when she heard the news.

“It was too much to take”

Remembering the terrible day, she explained how she saw her son and through what condition Austin went through.

“It looked like he had a black blanket on his head down to his neck, down to his arms,”

The bees attack was so malicious that the victim had bees inside his body which had to get suctioned out.

“he had bees inside of him, and they suctioned bees out of him until Sunday morning.”


Additionally, Carter paid her gratitude to the firefighter, Craig, who rescued her son,

When I think of Craig, Craig is a lifesaver. He’s Austin’s angel.”
