Who is Sanna Marin?

Sanna Marin, 34, succeeded outgoing leader Antti Rinne as the world’s youngest prime minister in 2019 after being selected by her party. She comes from a low-income family. When she was young, her parents divorced, and during the years, her mother reared her alone.

She discussed the prejudice she experienced when her mother was in a same-sex relationship in 2015. Sanna entered the Finnish parliament in 2015 at the age of 29 finally completing her studies at the University of Tampere and working in municipal government.

What did the opposition party say?

Members of Marin’s opposition party have demanded that she submit to a drug test and make the findings public. They are claiming that her behavior is unsuitable for a prime minister. There is a “shadow of a doubt,” according to opposition party leader Riikka Purra, about her activities.

Additionally, Ms. Marin’s coalition partner MP Mikko Karna tweeted that it “would be wise” for her to “voluntarily submit to a drugs test.”

In her statement, she said, “I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age.”
