Hillary Cauthen, San Antonio Spurs Psychologist Sues Joshua Primo

A lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Bexar County, Texas. It is about former San Antonio Spurs psychologist Hillary Cauthen who is suing the franchise as well as Josh Primo, the Spurs’ No. 12 lottery pick in 2021, for alleged instances in which Primo exposed himself indecently.

In addition, Hillary Cauthen will charge Primo with “several charges of indecent exposure,” Her attorney Tony Buzbee said while speaking, at a news conference in Houston on Thursday.

Tony Buzbee said “We expect them to prosecute ”

The Spurs hired Hillary Cauthen in September 2021 when he was still under contract. Primo allegedly exposed himself nine times in front of Cauthen starting in December 2021.

Hillary Cauthen felt uneasy with Primo

The lawsuit claims that Cauthen first brought up her issues about Primo’s behaviour to Spurs GM Brian Wright in January 2022.

According to the lawsuit, Hillary Cauthen met with Wright for the first time on March 21 and proceeded to convey her worries about Primo, telling Wright that she felt uneasy meeting with Primo.

Cauthen claims that she was still asked to visit Primo after they met with Wright. Cauthen visited with Wright once more in April to convey her annoyance and worry that nothing had been done. When Wright asked Cauthen “what consequence” she wanted to happen.

Cauthen said that she thought the team should handle the matter. Wright then told her that she would hear from the organization’s legal department.

Hillary Cauthen to WFH, Primo will take part in team activities

In May, Hillary Cauthen met with attorneys from the Spurs organization many times and was assured that an inquiry would take place.

A week or more after Cauthen requested an update on the investigation’s progress, deputy general counsel Brandon James and head of human resources Kara Allen informed Cauthen that Primo would still take part in team activities and recommended Cauthen work from home.

Later in June, James and Allen met with Hillary Cauthen and told her that head coach Gregg Popovich was “aware of her complaints and accusations” and “wanted to do right by her.”

They also told Cauthen that the team was investigating a “corrective process for the timely reporting of incidents.”

The spurs fired Primo last week

Spurs fired Primo last week following only four games with the squad this year.

“He is now being victimized by his former team-appointed sports psychologist, who is playing to ugly stereotypes and racially charged fears for her financial benefit.”

The declaration continued to deny the allegations that Primo exposed himself, referring to them as “a complete fabrication, a gross embellishment or utter fantasy.

Josh Primo never intentionally exposed himself to her or anyone else and was not even aware that his private parts were visible outside of his workout shorts.”
