Kendell Cummings and Brady Lowry, Two Wyoming College Wrestlers Are Severely Injured After A Bear Attacked

On Saturday, the Northwest College sophomores Kendell Cummings and Brady Lowry got injured in a bear attack. This happened in afternoon in the South Fork outside Cody, Wyoming. They were quickly transported to nearby hospitals.

Full Report of the Incident

Kendell Cummings of Evanston and Brady Lowry of Cedar City were supposedly antler hunting in south-east of Yellowstone national park in the Shoshone national forest. Due to a sudden shock, they were unable to use bear spray.

Cummings fought bravely when he saw that the bear was attacking his friend. After a substantial amount of injury, they were able to call 911. One of the victims was airlifted to a Montana hospital. However, an ambulance arrived to rescue the other one.

The wildlife officials informed that there will be no attempt to kill the bear that attacked the youngsters. This was because there were lots of bears in that areas thereby making it difficult for them to find the one who attacked.

Besides, the Wyoming Game & Fish Department informed that this was not a new thing to happen in this town. According to them, there were “an abundance of bear activity at low elevations” and the residents were warned about the same.

The Youngsters recount the horror

“It shook me around and I didn’t know what to do. Meanwhile, I curled up in a ball and it got me a few more times”, Lowry told in an interview. His friend, however, fought bravely for which Lowry was thankful and that their bond have become stronger.

“I didn’t want to lose my friend. It was bad. There was a big ol’ bear on top of him. I could have run and potentially lost a friend, or get him off and save him”, Kendell told the media.

“It tackled me, chewed me up a bit, and then when it was done it wandered off, and I started calling out for Brady to make sure he was alright”, he continued.

“The bear circled back around, and it got me again, chewed on me, and that’s when it got my head and cheek. And then it went away again for whatever reason”, he concluded.

“I don’t know what I’m going to pay him back, I don’t. I owe him everything. We’ll be best friends for the rest of our lives”, Lowry told in the recent reports.

Their present condition

Brian Erickson, Northwest College athletic director, informed the media about their current situation. “They’re alive and doing well, for what happened. We’re praying for those kids and their families and the rest of the team and their coach”.
