Lil Wayne Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Uncle Bob, A Cop Who Once Saved His Life

The famous American rapper Lil Wayne paid tribute to the ex-police officer who reportedly saved his life in an emotional Instagram post. Wayne addressed the cop as his Uncle Bob. The ex-police officer named Robert Hoobler passed away at the age of 65. He had been suffering from health problems for the last few years.

It is clear that He was very special to Lil Wayne, as, as soon as the rapper heard the news, He shared a picture of him standing outside a door, and wrote the caption, quote, “Everything happens for a reason. I was dying when I met you at this very spot. You refused to let me die. Everything that doesn’t happen, doesn’t happen for a reason.”That reason is you and faith. RIP Uncle Bob. Aunt Kathie has been waiting for you. I’ll love & miss you both and live for us all.” He added. Hoobler’s wife Kathie died in 2021, and he was missing her a lot since then and often talked about her.

Wayne, born as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., grew up in an impoverished neighborhood. His childhood and early adulthood were very challenging. At the age of 12, Wayne was severely injured due to a self-inflicted bullet shot in his chest. The incident that took place in 1994 could have taken his life if not for the off-duty police officer present there. The police officer Robert Hoobler insisted that the injured child should be carried in his police car instead of waiting for an ambulance. That considerate decision saved his life. That time, Wayne said that the bullet hit him by accident. But, later he confessed that it was an attempted suicide.

Since his recovery from the incident, he made a name for himself and is credited as one of the most influential hip-hop celebrities of his generation. He is regarded as one of the best rappers of all time. Wayne is one of the best-selling artists all around the world with 120 million records sold worldwide. All this wouldn’t have been possible if that incident would have killed him back in 1994.

Hoobler and Wayne didn’t meet regularly, but He was extremely proud of them. In a 2009 interview, the ex-cop said, quote, “I’m proud of what he’s done, but I would’ve done the same for the guy no one ever heard about again.” According to a 2021 report by TMZ, A former police officer saw the rapper in 2019 when was in NOLA for a radio show. There Wayne wanted to help him and offered his dear Uncle Bob financial support. Wayne reportedly said all he had to do was “say the word.”Hoobler did not accept Lil Wayne’s offer. However, there were reports about him joining the rapper’s team as an administrator. The news isn’t verified yet.
