Mary Cagnin who is a Brazilian comic book writer has complained on social media that the Netflix series – 1899 has stolen ideas from her comic book named Black Silence. The book was released in 2016.

“I’m in shock,” tweeted Cagnin. “I discovered that the 1899 series is simply identical to my comic Black Silence, which was published in 2016.”

Then Mary Cagnin made a thread on her Twitter posting a picture of a comparison of her comic book characters and the characters of 1899. Fans are clear that they are the same. And now people are accusing Netflix of plagiarised content.

Mary Cagnin also added :
“I cried a lot. It’s always been my dream to be recognized nationally and internationally for my work. And seeing something like that really breaks my heart. I had the opportunity that many comic artists never had: to be able to show my work to an international audience. I had given lectures. Talked about the plot. I introduced it to influential people in the area.”

“Obviously, Black Silence is a short work, almost a short story. It’s very easy to dilute all those ‘references’ in 12 hours of projection of the show, but the essence of what I’ve created is there.”

However, the creator of the show – 1899 or Netflix hasn’t made any comments yet on the issue. But since this accusation is huge and somehow seems to be true, fans are waiting for an answer from the producers of Netflix and the show – 1899.
