Who was Laney Chantal? Face Off Make Up Artist Died Aged 33

Laney Chantal was a celebrity makeup artist and former reality TV personality who passed away this week from a drug overdose. She was 33 years old.

Chantal’s real name was Alaina Chantal Parkhurst. Her family revealed in a public obituary that she passed away on Monday in Milford, Michigan.

Alaina Chantal Parkhurst, was born On February 20, 1989.She grew up in Manitou Beach and became interested in skateboarding and music. After high school, she went to Los Angeles and enrolled in the Cinema Make-Up School.

In 2010, she received her diploma in fabrication, prosthetic makeup, and sculpting. She received a certificate to work as a special effects makeup artist from the Cinema Make-Up School. Chantal was a well-known FX makeup artist and mask designer.

Chantal’s work in the industry

She came into the spotlight after participating in the fifth season of the SyFy Network competition series “Face Off” in 2013. She was fifth after she willingly left the reality program about makeup artists for special effects.

After she participated in the show, Chantal collaborated with several well-known celebrities, including Bella Thorne and Marilyn Manson.

She even developed the “Head FX Makeup.” for rapper Lil Nas X’s contentious music video “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),”. The music video received the Video of the Year award at the MTV VMAs in 2021.

How Chantal’s friends reacted on her death

Gabriella Accarino, an artist, was one of Chantal’s acquaintances who posted about her passing on social media. Accarino shared a slideshow of her pictures on Instagram with Chantal along with the latter’s special effects makeup work.

Statements of Chantal’s family about the cause of death

Chantal moved from Michigan to Los Angeles after finishing high school in 2007. Her family did not disclose any other information about her passing. Other than stating that she died from “ an accidental drug overdose.


Chantal shared an Instagram picture of a pink coffin being buried six months before her passing.

The Parkhurst family requested donations be made to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. The difficulties their daughter had with her mental health throughout her life were the main cause of taking a step toward the mental wellbeing of others.
