Joe Rogan is no stranger to scandal and controversy. However, Rogan reveals that he has managed to avoid interviewing someone who has proven to be even more controversial than himself. He apparently declined offers to interview former President Donald Trump.
Joe Rogan’s Numerous Controversies
Joe Rogan is infamous for his many public controversies. The past few months of them have led to the American podcaster being the talk of the town.
He has received content advisory warnings over his Covid-19 misinformation, faced a Neil Young-led boycott, and also garnered criticism over his past use of the N-word.
Despite his numerous scandals, Rogan once claimed that his subscriber count increased in recent months. He informed listeners that his podcast “gained two million subscribers”.
Spotify as a platform has not publicly released Joe Rogan’s podcast subscriber counts. However, sources confirm that the Joe Rogan Experience podcast listenership has risen over the past few months. This could come as surprise to many considering controversies
Joe Rogan: Interview With Lex Fridman Podcast
In a recent interview with Lex Fridman Podcast, Joe Rogan revealed that he has declined to interview Donald Trump several times.
In his words, he said, “I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape, or form”.
“I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once — I’ve said no every time. I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him”.
The 54-year-old podcaster said he believes the ex-president is “an existential threat to democracy itself”.
He, however, also criticized people who, “felt like they could abandon their own ethics and morals and principles just to attack him and anybody who supports him.”
He was also questioned if whether he believes that Trump might win again in 2024. In answer to that Joe Rogan joked that he would be “running against a dead man” referring to President Joe Biden.
“I mean, Biden shakes hands with people that aren’t even there when he gets off stage,” Joe added. “I think he’s seeing ghosts. You see him on Jimmy Kimmel the other day? He was just rambling … If he was anyone else, if he was a Republican, if that was Donald Trump doing that, every fucking talk show would be screaming for him to be off the air”.
Lex Fridman insinuated that Trump might someday end up guesting on the Joe Rogan Experience. He pointed to Rogan interviewing similarly infamous personalities like Kanye West in the past. Rogan refuted the implication by saying:
“Yeah, but Kanye’s an artist” and that “Kanye doing well or not doing well doesn’t change the course of our country”.
