Kate Middleton will partner eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer for a charity event in September. They are also seen spending the day with school kids. According to the official announcement, the pair will come together for a collaboration that will benefit the two associations.
Duchess of Cambridge patronizes both organizations. The member of the royal family, who loves tennis, is reportedly an avid player.
Meanwhile, Federer is the co-founder of the Laver Cup, and Team Europe will compete against Team World, made up of players from all over the world except Europe. This year’s event takes place September 23-25 at The O2.
Tickets for the Open Practice Day, where Federer and other players from both teams will train, go on sale from 22nd August. The funds that are raised at the event will be split up between two organizations. They are Action for Children and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Action for Children said in a statement that it will use the funds to “provide children with hands-on and emotional care and support, and keep them entertained through activities and day trips.”
The LTA Tennis Foundation will use this amount to fund its SERVES programme, specifically 50 new LTA SERVES coaching programs for children in the most disadvantaged areas of the country. Including areas near London’s O2, it’s use will be to “leave the legacy of the Laver Cup.”
