Who is Kyle Neptune?

After the Rams finished the season 2-12 due to a pandemic-shortened season in 2020-21, Neptune became Fordham’s coach. Fordham finished with a 16-16 record during Neptune’s only season at Rose Hill Gymnasium. It was the most considerable single-season improvement in program history since it improved by 14 wins between 2020-21 and 2021-22. Despite struggling offensively, Fordham had some success despite finishing last in the Atlantic 10.

The Neptune team ranked fifth in the conference in defending, holding opponents to 66.8 points per game. There were also plenty of takeaways – in the Atlantic 10 with 7.31 per game the Rams got fourth place.

Even more promising were the advanced numbers. With 95.1 points allowed per 100 possessions, Fordham is 41st. The Joe B. Hall Award is given to the most outstanding first-year coach in Division I men’s basketball each year, and Neptune was nominated for it.
