American Sports Broadcaster Michael Kay made a sad announcement this week. Sports analyst and longtime head producer of TMKS — Andrew Gundling is leaving 98.7 ESPN New York after nearly 16 years.

What prompted him to take such a decision? Kay revealed the reason and wished him good luck in his future endeavors.

Andrew Gundling is one of the prominent voices on ESPN radio. Every sports enthusiast anticipates his take on sports.

However, Gundling is stepping away from his longtime radio show– The Michael Kay Show. He was also a head producer and initially also worked on-air. Fans were curious as to why the Sports observer made such a decision.

On Thursday’s broadcast, his departure from the show was confirmed. Moreover, the host and staff bid farewell and good wishes to their longtime producer.

Michael Kay Reveals The Reason For His Departure From TMKS

During the broadcast, Michael Kay said he was reluctant to share this news.

He revealed to the listeners that Andrew Gundling will be leaving the show as he is about to start something ‘new’ aloof from the broadcasting industry.

Gundling expressed that it is hard to talk about his leaving as he loved every time spent there. Co-host Peter Rosenberg understood his position and further added-

“It stinks because it’s one of those things where he’s obviously excited about a new opportunity and the things that come with that, but you can see that it pains him to leave.”

It was also disclosed with a heavy heart that Gundling’s last day at work would be 7th October, Friday. Moreover, the team has planned something for ‘goodbye.’

Andrew Gundling Joined ESPN Radio Back In 2007

Andrew Gundling earned a degree in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from Syracuse University in 2006. In January 2007, he grabbed the opportunity to join WEPN-FM 98.7 ESPN New York.

Since then, he has been a part of the Sports and broadcasting industry. He served about 16 years on ESPN Radio and has been a notable voice in the radio world.

The host of the show– Michael Kay praised his longtime colleague and described Gundling as an integral part of the show. In his words-

“He makes it so easy to do what we do and when you have a producer who thinks along with you, well, that’s invaluable.”

The official Twitter account of the show also tweeted Thankyou to bid farewell to their important and senior producer.
